I know data merge and join as basically the same thing; however, do these options work for datasets manipulated in data wizard or only for the datasets within the data object?
More specifically, does merge and join work on data sets which are only within Workflow (e.g. use of data wizard)
Travis, I am not sure I follow your question. Merge and Join are similar functions, although the join can be made more ‘selective’ by using the inner join option.
Merge and Join, like any other operational objects in Phoenix are used in the workflow to ensure they can be easily updated/refreshed and if necesary tempalted for us in other projects. There is not restriction on whether the source datasets are in the data folder (where you import external files to), or use the output from other objects, which could be a Data Wizard or an NCA, Phoenix mode object etc.
Perhaps you can clarify your question by posting the project you are having problems with and an explanation of what you are trying to achieve.
One final comment is that it is best to avoid manipulatiing data in the source data folder since these manipulations cannot be easily refreshed or undone, in contrast to steps performed in the workflow.
