Difference between Omega and Omega Stderr

For a given eta estimate, I am trying to understand the relationship between these two estimates. I see that Omega Stderr is the square root of the variance estimate from the VarCovar matrix of estimates, so that makes me think that Omega Stderr is Omega. Apparently it is not Omega, because just above Omega Stderr in the Results output is Omega. What is the relationship between between Omega and Omega Stderr? THanks, Robert

Hi Robert, a typical mixed effect fit will provide you with an estimate of the random effect variance as well as an estimate of its uncertainty in this case OMEGA is the variance covariance matrix of the random effects the means are assumed to be zeros Then OMEGAsterr is the uncertainty on these variances.
