How P21 generate Data Type from XPT

P21 seems to recognize Data Type through the value. I have many incomplete dates in my CMSTDTC, but when I set it to a complete date, I get CMSTDTC Data Type = “datatime” from P21.

I did more tests on the data, and as long as it contains incomplete dates, P21 will recognize it as “Text”. Why not identify the Data Type from the variable name – DTC?

In my XPT dataset, CMSTDTC is recognized as Data_Type=“Text”, CMSTDTC is recognized as Data_Type=“datetime”, but the attributes of these two variables in XPT are the same.

Why is CMSTDTC not correctly recognized, what could be the possible reasons?
