Phoenix v6.3 Exporting Tables into Excel

Hi, We are running into an error in Phoenix 6.3 when exporting large tables into Excel. For tables that are wider than the “z” column in Excel, we get an initial error stating that Excel found unreadable content (see attached print screen). After choosing “yes”, there is a second error (see second print screen) after the excel sheet opens with the data. Besides the errors, the data stop at Column Z in the spreadsheet and all other data past Column Z is not there. The only way we can get the entire table is to export it as an html file which then looses all formatting features when pulling it into Word. Is there a process we are missing for getting large tables with formatting into Word? Our usual process is choosing “Edit in Excel” then we copy from Excel into Word. Mary, I think that this sort of issue, i/e/ what sounds like an enhancement request/ bug report, might be best addressed via support@pharsight.com, that said I tried simply testing your reported issue and successfully exported over 200 columns to excel by right-click and export on a work sheet. i chose XLS_97_2003 format Simon PS I deleted the two other duplicate posts I guessed you made in error.

Hi Simon, The problem we are running into is when you create a table with more than 26 columns. I am able to export large “data” files from the data folder with out any issues. It is when a table is created in the table function, save it to the Table folder then right click on the file and choose “Edit in Excel” , that is when the errors are occurring. Thanks, Mary

what happens when you copy the table to the tables folder ? Please note that Word can understand html tables you can just copy and paste html tables to word. Samer

Hi Samer, If you look at the attachment on the initial question in this thread you will see the errors we are getting when exporting a large table out of Phoenix into Excel using the “edit in Excel” option. We’ve tried to copy tables from html into Word but the formatting is not how we like it. This is something that has change from Phoenix 6.2 to 6.3. We didn’t have this issue before.

Mary, I have to ask, how do you intend to present a table in Word that is over 26 columns wide? Will you split it across many pages, (did you know the AutoPilot module option will manage some of that?) with base phoenix WinNonlin, I can see a couple of workarounds; 1) Use File|Word export to push the raw table directly to Word (no need to copy it to tables folder first) 2) Or, again WITHOUT copying it to tables folder first, select all (i.e. CTRL+A), then copy and finally paste to an empty Excel worksheet. Regarding your problem with “edit in Excel” please email an example project and the details to Support@pharsight.com for them to investigate further with the developers. Simon

Hi guys!

I am having problems exporting tables from the “Tables” folder in Phoenix 6.4. The tables are stratified by row, and only the first is been shown. This happens in Tables 3 and 6-7, which I’m using for plasma concentration tables and PK parameters, both stratified by treatment, in row.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Lucas.

HI Lucas, can you perhaps attach a copy of the project illustrating your problem - I am not sure I follow it from your description.

thanks, Simon.
