Has anyone had any issues with the Phoenix Validation Suite and Windows XP SP3? We evaluated the VS2 on SP2 and all was fine, but since an upgrade to SP3 the Validation Suite will no longer correctly open and load projects in Phoenix, resulting in failures of all tests - a ‘Failed to Launch Phoenix’ error is reported. This also happens even with fresh installs of the VS2 and Phoenix 1.1 software. This is obviously causing a major problem as we cannot validate Phoenix at present (we work in a GLP compliant environment). Any help appreciated! Andy
Hi Andy, I believe you’ve also logged this issue as Support Case #131453; where a response with a proposed solution and replacement DLL was sent 26 Aug. However despite several follow ups they never heard back. Is it possible to confirm if you received and tried the following solution? "CAUSE: This has been found to be a conflict with the ‘TestExecute’ application that runs the automated test scripts and certain Windows updates. The Windows Updates are as follows: OS Windows Update XP KB982524 KB976576 KB977354 Vista KB982525 KB956250 KB979899 Windows 7 KB982526 KB958488 KB979900 SOLUTION: The issue exists in the engine ‘TestExecute’ that executes the automated test scripts, and can be resolved by updating a required dll file to a newer version. The fix can be applied by downloading the attached zip file and unzipping the archive to the “Pharsight\Validation Suite 2.0\ScriptEngine\Bin\Extensions” folder. Steps for applying the patch dll: 1. Close the Validation Suite application. 2. Download the attached zip file on the local machine where the Validation Suite is installed (tcClrHook_TE_x86.zip). 3. Use WinZip or ‘Extract All’ to unzip the file. 4. Copy the unzipped file ‘tcClrHook.dll’ to the C:\Pharsight\Validation Suite 2.0\Script Engine\Bin\Extensions folder. When prompted, click Yes to overwrite the existing file. The updated dll file version is 7.52.694.11. 5. Restart the Validation Suite application. 6. Run the VS2_WNL_Setup test, and verify that the test runs to completion. 7. If step 6 is successful, the problem is fixed. Run all of the desired tests for the Validation Suite (overnight run recommended). Simon.
Dear Simon, Many thanks for your detailed response. I had indeed logged this as a support case on the 26th August yes, but have not received any communication following it and there is no resolution showing in my support account online so I assumed nothing had been done. It sounds as though the patch you mention should resolve the issues which is fantastic. Unfortunately as I have not received the support response I don’t have a link to download the file, would it be possible to send me the link in an email please? Thanks again and best regards Andy
Andy - I have already sent you this morning the ZIP from my Pharsight email so I guess your IT group has blocked our whole domain. I will resend it again from my gmail account, please confirm receipt of either /.both. If anyone else encounters this issue please contact Support directly to request Solution 400. Simon.
Hi Simon, I’ve just received your email from the certara address with the zip file, so think the emails are not blocked. Not sure what’s happened to the others then but many thanks for sending this, much appreciated. Best regards Andy
