Preferences | Mapping Contexts | Context Associations | BQL

I’m interested in using Preferences | Mapping Contexts | Context Associations with BQL objects. When I map a data source to a BQL object I’d like WinNonlin to sort on Subject and Analyte (for starters).

With the Context Associations tool open, the right hand pane lists the various Plugin Contexts. Some like BQL are a single check box and others like NCA are checkboxes that can be expanded to a pick list of options.

With the NCA pick list I have been successful in getting WinNonlin to sort data mapped to an NCA object on Subject and Analyte by default (by checking the appropriate boxes in the expanded NCA context).

What is the function of the checkbox at the NCA level? It is checkable but seems to have no effect on the checkboxes beneath it. It doesn’t need to be checked to allow sorting on Subject or Analyte.

BQL only has the top level checkbox in the Plugin Contexts pane. Without being able to expand it and check Sort for Subject and Analyte I have come to a standstill. The top level BQL checkbox, like the top level NCA checkbox seems to have no function.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Ian, I have to admit that since v6.3 when we added the option of Edit>Preferences>Default templates, I have only used this option for setting my preferred defaults - so I haven’t looked at this for a while.

I think your question is what is the function of the top level checkbox when there are furhter checkboxes below and I think you are correct that it has no function and is just a UI oversight. I’ll see what development has to say.

Hello Ian,

Thank you for your comment. You are correct and single boxes cannot have context associations. For cases like BQL, you can save a template and save that template as a default template and will have the same effect. In the context associations, for NCA, the top level is only for display and cannot be checked. This module still needs some updates and as users start using it more we can continue to improve it.

Thanks,

Hi Simon and Ana - thanks for the relies. I thought I’d try the Preferences after seeing them demonstrated at the Phoenix roadshow in Cambridge. I’ll have a go at saving a template of a BQL object and see how I get on. I could be back for more advice…
