clearance unit

dear Phoenix team,

I have a basic question

I am doing NCA for a drug and I have the drug concentrations in ng/ml , the time in hour, and I converted the dose unit from mg to microgram. I don’t know however, what is the unit of clearance that is displayed by Phoenix? do I need to do unit conversion?

thank you very much

If you supply units of dose, time and conc then NCA will calculate the output units. There is not really a need to convert the dose units beforehand, but if I were to do so then I would convert to mass units equivalent to those used in the conc.

More importantly the NCA too has a input option on Setup “Units”, where you will see the Default units for clearance; in your case I would exepct mL/h but you can also change this under Preferred to eg. L/h

Simon

thank you very much,

I will check the units were you sited

best regards

Omama

it says in the unit section : insufficient unit, even though i specified the units of the concentration and the time. the dose I just put the number but knowing that the default in phoenix is microgram. so I don’t know if I am missing something

Omamah, you are mistaken - there is no ‘default’ dose unit in Phoenix - I’m interested where you think you saw that incase there is something that needs updating in our documentation.

If you ever see ‘insufficient unit’ you need to check you have specified a unit for dose, conc and time. In oyur case if you have entered the number corresponding to a dose in ug, enter the units of ug and all will be well.

Simon.

you are absolutely right Simon, I fixed the dose unit and it is solved. There is no were that I read that default is microgram for the dose but I watched couple of lectures and as they run the example they just include the dose in microgram value without necessarily specifying the dose unit in the box and that is maybe why i had the impression that this is the default.

thank you for clarification tho, simple but very helpful!
