Functionally this is very similar to 8.3.2; it addresses some occasional freezing issues that users were reporting by improving memory management as well as enhancing support for SCCM (silent installation).
On 17 December 2021, Certara will retire and replace the digital security certificate used in Phoenix applications in the form of a maintenance release (e.g., an upgrade of 8.3.3 to 8.3.4).
The maintenance release will be available by 15th November 2021, and applies to supported Phoenix versions 8.1.x, 8.2.x, and 8.3.x. Installation of this maintenance release is necessary to prevent erroneous detection of Certara executables as “unsigned” after certificate replacement. It will therefore be mandatory for all Phoenix WinNonlin and Phoenix NLME customers who use the Phoenix Model Object. With this maintenance release, we will take the opportunity to make other important updates to Phoenix and specifically to NCA. This release is optional and it is your choice as to which you install. We would not normally have two updates so close to each other but the certificate revocation and us working out a couple of useful enhancements to solve some rare but annoying issues for some users did not quite align in time. Simon.
Phoenix 8.3.5 Updates A checksum is now done when Phoenix projects are saved as zip files (QC 16931): If the checksum fails, the projects are resaved. This may prevent some cases of project files becoming corrupted.
Autobackup feature implemented to aid in recovering from corrupt projects (QC 18108): When saving a project, Phoenix now creates a backup project file (with an extension of .phxbackup) in the same directory. This provides a recent “checkpoint” from which most of the work can be recovered in the event that a project becomes corrupt. Note that there is only one backup file maintained for a project, i.e., subsequent save operations overwrite the project’s backup file.
R script changes are now retained when using “Start Development Environment” within the R Shell object (QC 18125): When using Phoenix 8.3.3, once changes to the script were made, saved back to disc, and R-Studio was exited, re-loading the script in Phoenix showed none of the changes. With Phoenix 8.3.5, the edits are now visible upon re-loading in Phoenix. Saving an un-executed NCA object created with Phoenix 8.3.x outside of Phoenix, then reloading the project and executing it, no longer generates an error (QC 18126) An issue where using Phoenix 8.3 to execute an NCA with a large number of profiles resulted in a “Phoenix has stopped working” error due to a stack overflow has been fixed (QC 18152/CRM 215821). Reporter object no longer wraps data in Table cells differently than Phoenix 8.1 (QC 18155): A different padding constant was implemented in Phoenix 8.3 but has been reverted to the 0.38 inches padding width value that was used in Phoenix 8.1. An NCA with many profiles no longer fails to run when executed while viewing a panel with mapped data (QC 18159).
In prior versions of Phoenix, PML models with more than one observe() statement, IWRES and epsilon shrinkage calculation was only correct for the observe() variable that appears first in the order of observe() statements in the model(PHX-8295)
The optimization is not affected by this bug and all other residuals (RES, WRES, CWRES) were correctly calculated.
I just installed Phenix and noticed the release versión is 8.3.4.295 (About Phenix). Do I still need to do the upgrade since it is version 8.3.4? Any clarification on this issue?

A patch is available for Phoenix 8.4 users who import files of the type ‘sas7bdat’ that contain date/time formats. Certain date/time formats in sas7bdat files are importing in Phoenix 8.4 with the year 1960, and this will be fixed by installing the patch. Only users with Phoenix 8.4 using sas7bdat files need to install the patch.
A patch is available for Phoenix 8.4 users to address a rarely reported issue with NCA of larger datasets, with the message “Dosing Type not Defined” in the “Warnings and Errors” result.. Very occasionally the Final Parameters result sheet may be missing a parameter for a profile, although the Core Output and Final Parameters Pivoted result will be correct and complete. Note this will also be rolled into the forthcoming 8.5 release, April 2024, which will also be tested on windows 11 and have a new licensing engine that should be a better user experience.

Actually there will be a minor enhancement to our background logging and project verification as 8.5.1 available in September so that is the one I would recommend to plan re-validation around, but you could do everything as a dry run, especially licensing with 8.5 since from the user side it will look the same Please let us know you have any questions.
