I have identified a subject as an outlier based on the plasma concentration time profile being much higher than any other single profile in the set. I used the Dixon test. So I am thinking to perform a NCA reanalysis of the data set I have excluding the drug plasma concentrations from that subject. I am wondering if there is a slick way of doing this in Phoenix. Obviously I could eliminate the subjects concentrations from the data set and produce a new file to analyze by NCA. Any thoughts on this topic? Thanks, Angus
Sorry no slick tricks for this. You can eliminate the subject before or after using a Data Wizard. I would highly recommend writing in the history of the Data Wizard the reasons for eliminating the subject. Ana
Thanks Ana: I remember you introduced me to the term “Data Wizard” at an earlier date and I have been successful with it. I will not be eliminating a subject for NCA work submitted to the FDA or any regulatory Agency. I am interested to do some simulations using mean data from a group of subjects. One of the subjects is a statistical outlier and I will leave that subject out and use the mean from that group of subjects bereft of the outlier. I will look and see what transformation applies to eliminating the one subject. Angus
Hi Angus, There are several ways to eliminating data from a workflow. The most straight forward is the Filter in the data wizard, you can choose to exclude based on a criteria (Built-in) like for example exclude when subject is 1, you can select the rows manually (Select(exclude)) or can write a condition that might involve more than one criteria using Custom(Include). For the latter, for example to exclude subject 1 at period 1 you can write Not(Subject=1 and Period=1) Hope this helps, Best, Ana
Thank you Ana: it does help. I did in fact work out that you can use the mouse and select the rows to exldude manually. Also your additional information regarding coding is most useful. This is something that is forbidden from a regulatory point of view for a submission. You are not allowed to exclude a subject based on stastical outlier criteria. However this is a special caee not for regulatory activities. This is the first time I have used “filter” so one learns as one goes along. Thank you, Angus
