Winnonlin 5.3 expires on July this year?

Hi All, Is it true that WNL 5.3 users will no longer be able to use WNL after July 1 this year? I am thinking that the expiration on this classic platform may have an impact on those who rely on using validated WNL in data analysis and reporting. Or maybe I was wrong? Thanks, PKbeginner

Support for WinNonlin 5.3 ended November 2012. This means that Pharsight will not release any fixes to this version nor would it support any future platforms. Similarly no more licenses for non-phoenix WinNonlin will be provided any longer. You can continue to use your current license until it expires but you should be transtioning to Phoenix WinNonlin, current version Phoenix WinNonlin 6.3. I don’t fully understand the question about validation. Phoenix WinNonlin contains all the same engines as WinNonlin and thus there should not be any concern about getting different numbers. The only difference that has been well documented is the fact that an enhancement was done since Phoenix WinNonlin 6.0 (released in 2009) for NCA where the best fit algorithm does not include Cmax/tmax. However, if the user selects its own ranges you will obtain the exact same numbers. Therefore, Phoenix WinNonlin is the path forward for WinNonlin users. This platform is a lot more modern and flexible. Workflows as well as template capabilities allow users to share work and reuse work in a simpler manner. Please check out the transitioning training course offered by Pharsight. You can also purchase a DVD that will walk you to this transition and/or review archived webinars. I hope you have a smooth transition. Ana Henry Phoenix Product Manager
