Local copies of mpiNLME7.exe blocked by Firewall

Hi, if I check “Use MPI?” in the “Run Options” every time Win7’s frewall asks me for permission (needing admin’s rights – which I have). I already permitted access to mpiNLME7 (and mpiexec.exe, smpd.exe), but every time I start a new run the FW specifically asks for the local copy at C:\users{User}\appdata\local\temp\phoenix{40 char string}\mpinlme7.exe. Just checked the FW just to find an endless list of local copies (which don’t exist any more). Are there any means to configure the FW in such a way that I don’t have to permit access for every single run?

Helmut, I believe all the information you should need to configure MPI to go through firewall ports is provided in the Phoenix WinNonlin Getting Started Guide, Chapter 1, section on “Opening TCP Ports for MPICH2”. Please let us know if you think there are any omissions? Simon [file name=Phoenix_1.pdf size=780103]Certara | Drug Development Solutions (762 KB)

Hi Simon, classical example of RTFM… Working like a charm.
Please let us know if you think there are any omissions?
Consider updating the batch-file. Quoting Micro$oft: “The netsh firewall command-line context might be deprecated in a future version of the Windows operating system. We recommend that you use the netsh advfirewall firewall context to control firewall behavior.” See KB 947709. PS: Is such a processor-load “normal” for a multithreading quadcore? Is NLME not taking advantage of Hyper-Threading?
