I often run into this problem, and I cannot seem to find a quick and consistent way to resolve the issue. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. When creating XY plots of concentration-time data, the units on the y-axis wrap to multiple lines. See the following image where the highest concentration “1000” wraps the last zero to a new line. I have posted an image of my plot layout settings for this plot also. Below the images, I will describe the things that I have tried. I have tried to change the font size for both the Y axis title and Y-axis units, but the wrap doesn’t change (even when the font shrinks). I have tried adjusting all of the layout settings, but none seem to adjust the space between the Y-axis title and the Y-axis units. I have changed the Y-axis title to a single line (currently shown as 2 lines, but first line was cropped to maintain confidentiality) and even completely removed the Y-axis title, but the wrap in the units remains. I have changed the format of the units, which gave interesting results. If I change the format to f6 (six decimal places) then the units still wrap, but the top line reads “1000.0” and the second line reads “00000”. So I KNOW that I can get 1000 on a single line! But I don’t want all the trailing zeros. I have also tried G1, G2, G3, etc, and all include a wrap or look bad … (Why have “1 e+01” when you can write “10”?!) Any suggestions on what I am missing, or how I can resolve this? Thanks in advance.
Nathan, two options should help you here. a) increase “decoration” area, this strange title corresponds to the area I believe you want to change. (note by setting it to 0 I lose all my axis info) b) additionally changing the font angle may also help. Simon
Simon, Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried increasing the decoration area … but I have to increase it to 170 to move the top units onto a single line. Unfortunately the decoration area increase also increases the space between the top of the graph and the title, so there is a huge white space between the title and the plot: I have also tried to change the angle, which I expected to remove the wrap … but it does not (unless I increase the decoration area to a large amount): I guess I’ll have to continue playing with things … I know graphics are complicated, but I hope future versions can resolve some of these nuances with figure formatting. Nathan, it is true the different “Layout” properties interact but you should be able to resolve that graph in a few seconds in my experience. If I had the project, (or if confidential, a part of it, e.g. export just the source worksheet* for the graph and the give me a WNLT of the graph object) then I can try for myself. Simon * remember CSV export lets you drop columns on export.
Simon, Here’s the project file (with identifiers removed). Your help is appreciated. Nathan [file name=Table.phxproj size=757054]Certara | Drug Development Solutions (739 KB)
